Learn to Row Session 1 (Adult) (A2016)
Course Description:
"This program is for anyone age 18 years or older wishing to learn the sport or rowing. No rowing experience necessary, but comfort being close to and wading in the water is essential, as we launch from the beach. Participants MUST be able to lift 50lbs to allow for team lifting of rowing shells. Our experienced coach will take participants from zero to the first, critical level of rowing skill, including basic stroke, fitness, teamwork and skills on and off the water. " "What to Bring: Lunch, water, watershoes or well-attached sandals (no flip flops), extra pair wool sox, sunscreen, tight fitting clothing that won't get caught in the equipment such as bike shorts, which can be layered for warmth. Program will be held regardless of weather conditions. First day will be primarily land-based, second day you will get on the water. Participants MUST have a completed float test on file @ VPD before the camp begins. Float test forms are available at the VPD office. VAC can provide float test by appointment only. Each participant should call to arrange for their own float test. " New rowers will receive 2 free rows after the class. For LTR participants who decide to join VIRC on or before July 1, 2010, the club initiation fee ($100) will be waived. "
